The Library is the journal of the Bibliographical Society, published since 1893 and covering the history of the book: printing, publishing, bookselling, manuscripts, bindings, libraries and collectors. Each issue carries scholarly articles, shorter bibliographical notes and reviews. The December 2017 issue shown, for example, includes pieces on early printed music in the provinces, a Folger fragment of the Old English Gospel of Mark, and a medieval book owner. This run, spanning the fifth to seventh series, would suit bibliographers, rare-book librarians, booksellers and anyone researching book history.
The issues and their cloth-spined slipcases have some marks and wear, with toning and dust marks to the page edges of the older issues, and some soiling and fading to the cases, particularly the fifth series case, while the later loose issues are clean and bright. See photos
