How do I sell my books to you?
Send us photos or a list using the form on this page, or email books@mrslofthouse.co.uk. We reply with a quote. If you're happy, box the books up and we can send a courier label or arrange collection for larger collections. Once they arrive and we've checked them, we pay you.
How do you pay?
By bank transfer once the books have arrived and been checked, or as store credit to spend in the shop, which is worth more.
Can I bring books into the shop?
Yes. Bring them to 4 Queen Street, Scarborough, during opening hours. For more than about 40 books, or if you're travelling a long way, send photos or a list first so we can tell you whether we can use them.
What if my books have faults?
Tell us about every one: tears, rips, writing inside, water damage, stains or missing pages. A photo or a clear description of each fault is all we need, and one photo of the pile is plenty for the rest. Faults we weren't told about mean a lower offer, or we may turn the books down (our Book Purchasing Terms & Conditions, linked from the form).
Do you buy every book?
No. We buy on what will sell, not on how good the book is. As a guide, books that sell for around £3–4 on eBay with free postage are usually too low for us. We'd rather say no than waste your time.
