Fay Godwin's photographic portrait of the Forest of Dean, the ancient working woodland in Gloucestershire, with around ninety black-and-white photographs taken for the Forestry Commission and the Arnolfini Gallery, Bristol. Alongside the pictures are conversations with free miners, sheep badgers and foresters, and poems by local and national poets. Edna Healey, who grew up in the Forest, adds an introduction full of personal memories. It suits anyone interested in British landscape photography, Godwin's work, or the history and people of the Forest of Dean.
The book has some light rubbing and minor wear to the cover edges and corners, and there is a small mark on the spine near the title; the pages look clean and bright, and the title page is signed in purple ink. See photos
