Jerram L. Brown surveys the research on birds that breed cooperatively, where helpers other than the parents assist in raising young, and on the long-running debate over why such behaviour evolved. He draws on his own field and theoretical work alongside the wider literature, looking at kin selection, delayed breeding, mating systems, reciprocity and ecological pressures. Part of Princeton's Monographs in Behavior and Ecology series, it suits students and researchers in ornithology, behavioural ecology and evolutionary biology.

The book has some light marks and wear on the cover and spine, with a small spot on the front cover and some light rubbing and slight toning to the edges and corners. There is a previous owner's name and date written in ink on the half-title page, and a small crease to the corner of that page. See photos
