This illustrated study looks at the medieval Ouse Bridge in York and the buildings that once stood on it, such as St William's Chapel, the council chamber, the toll booth and the prison. It draws on paintings, drawings and prints to reconstruct how the bridge and its buildings looked before they were replaced in the early nineteenth century. Each image is discussed in detail alongside the bridge's history. It will suit anyone interested in York's history, local architecture or topographical art.
The book is in very good condition overall, with some light scuffing and surface marks on the glossy black back cover, a slight curl to the covers, and minimal wear to the edges; the pages seen are clean. See photos
