A Victorian history of St Mary's Church in Scarborough by the Rev. Joshua Fawcett, published in 1850, covering both the church's past and its condition in his own day. It deals with the history and the architecture of the building and includes a ground plan showing the nave, aisles, transepts and the ruined choir, with the different building periods marked. It will interest local historians, people with a connection to Scarborough, and readers interested in English parish churches and Gothic architecture.

The book has some marks, rubbing and wear on the cloth covers and spine, with a small chip and fraying to the cloth at the head of the spine and bumped, scuffed corners and edges. Inside there is heavy foxing to the endpapers and some foxing and toning to the title page and plate, the page edges are toned, there is an ink inscription facing the title page and a bookseller's blind stamp on the title page.
