A Country Alphabet Signed

An illustrated alphabet celebrating the English countryside, with each letter brought to life in a detailed fine-line drawing by the etcher Robin Tanner, based on the plants, wildlife and old rural customs of Wiltshire. Facing each drawing is a short, wide-ranging and often humorous piece by Heather Tanner that uses the picture as its starting point. It will suit readers interested in country life, natural history, wood-engraving-style illustration and the private press tradition.

The book has some light wear to the cloth spine with slight fraying at the head and rubbing at the foot, and minor rubbing to the corners and edges. Inside, there is a gift inscription dated 1987 and a former owner's address label on the front endpaper, and a newspaper cutting about Robin Tanner has been taped onto the title page with yellowed adhesive tape.
