2 Vintage Cookery Books Mrs Beeton Warnes

A pair of period household cookery books. Mrs Beeton's Book of Household Management is the revised and enlarged 1915 edition of the famous guide, covering cookery in all branches along with menus, marketing, carving, servants' duties, sick nursing, the nursery and home medicine, with colour plates of dishes. Warne's Model Cookery, compiled by Mary Jewry (1893), is a Victorian recipe book with household management instructions and sections on everything from breads, soups and game to preserves, home-made wines and invalid cookery, illustrated with colour plates and engravings of kitchen utensils. A good pair for collectors of old cookery books and anyone interested in Victorian and Edwardian domestic life.

The Mrs Beeton has noticeable wear to the leather binding, with rubbing, scratches and spotting on the boards, cracking to the leather on the spine, a small split at the head of the spine and worn corners and edges. The Warne's has light rubbing and some bumping to the cloth at the spine ends and corners, and the pages of both books are toned with age. See photos
