Art
Wide range of Artists , OOP art books and architecture, design.
Buying or trading – Yes most art coffee table type books, not compilations of artists. Not buying architecture or “how to paint / draw… ” books.
Classic Illustrated books such as Arthur Rackham, Mabie Lucie Atwell tend to have good value.
Sc-fi / Warhammer / Graphic novel style art books are more popular and we can buy or trade these.
(Auto) Biographies
We stock a small range of biographies, with specialisation in Music related biographies (80s 90s 2000s. )
Buying or trading – We are not looking to buy or trade autobiographies.
Horror – Gothic or modern
Horror – Gothic or modern
We stock a wide range of Horror books, especially the British Library Gothic range , mutliple editions of Dracula. Also a wide range of Stephen King books.
We like : H P Lovecraft (his writing anyway) , Poe, Mary Shelley and Bram Stoker.
Buying or trading – Yes, most horror books we can buy or trade. , some of the less popular Stephen King hardbacks we might struggle with.
We can’t usually take Dean Koontz or most James Herbert. Also we can’t buy supernatural romance books ie Stephanie Meyer, Anne Rice or similar.
Romance / Sagas
We stock a small range of older style romance books including Mills and Boon,. Anna Jacob, Glenda Young.
Buying or trading – We are not looking to buy or trade any romance style books, with the exception of Lucinda Riley’s Seven Sisters Novels.
Short Stories
We carry a very short range of short stories. We are not looking to take in anymore.
General Fiction
We have a mixed section, from Atwood and Ian Banks to Gabrielle Zevin.
We can trade a lot of general fiction books, we are looking for newer books and more unusual / specialised authors.
True Crime
We carry a range of true crime books.
We can trade true crime books in smaller quantities. We are not looking to buy true crime books.
Romantasy
We carry a large range of Romantasy books and are keen to trade or buy these. We are especially looking for Sarah J Maas (any) fairyloot, illumicrate signed and sprayed edges!!!
Childrens Books
We carry a wide range of toddlers – teen books inculding Dog man and Bunny and Monkey.
We are not generally looking to trade or buy children’s books – unless very new (last 2-3 years) ,
Yes – WImpy Kid, Dog man, Bunny and Monkey, Katherine Rundell, very modern.
No – Harry Potter Hardbacks, Older Enid Blyton (unless first edition) , C S Lewis, Philip Pulman, Derek Landy, David Walliams etc. – Kids books that were very popular such as these tend to arrive in large quantities and don’t sell for us. No to Ladybird books unless the loose cover style or nature.
Classic Illustrators such as Margaret Tarrant, all copies of Alice in Wonderland, Arthur Rackham would be of interest.
Esoteric / Conspiracy / Witchcraft / Myths /Tarot
We keep a wide range of books on the above topics. Witchcraft, tarot, myths and legends are all popular genres. Also Aliens, crop circles and spirituality (not standard style or TV mystics) Topics like Astral projections, druids, David Icke etc are always popular.
We keep non Christian / Islamic religious books in this section so Hindu, buddhist, Jewish etc. books are always of interest to us. We can always buy tarot decks, Aleister Crowley books, dark art Druidism or witchcraft books.
We can’t buy any Christian books except bibles.
Local Interest
We stock a wide range of books about Scarborough and it’s history. A range of Antiquarian Scarborough books such as Hinderwell’s History up to more modern books such as Jack Binn’s history or Scarborough at War.
We are looking to buy Scarborough and surrounding district books (History) . This includes books by Robin Lidster, photo books and Ward Locks. We can always buy books on smaller village such as Ayton, Cloughton , Ravenscar etc.
We can’t buy Yorkshire books or local history from further afield than Scarborough and district
We can buy Filey , Whitby, and rarer York books.
Classic Books
We differentiate 20th Century books from pre-20th Century – We have a 20th Century Classics and pre-20th Century classsics.
We also have a new and critically acclaimed section for authors writing into the 201st Century.
We could debate which authors should go into 20th Century Classics ( Irvine Welsh as an example. ) Feel free to get in touch is your favourite classic author has been omitted instore!!!
Particularly popular are Doestesky, The Brontes , George Orwell , Graham Greene, Sylvia PLath, Kurt Vonnegut
We can’t buy Dickens, Trollope, Hardy or other similar authors.
New Releases
We do stock a small range of new releases, but even today there are over 1000 new books a week from our suppliers. Hence we may wait to see how an author is recieved or we get a few requests before stocking.
We can buy most new releases (within a year) . – Please be aware the prices of new books (if you are paying full price) will drop very quickly. We have a policy of trying to sell our books below the Ebay selling price (postage can be expensive.

We stock a wide range of manga, and manga related books. We also stock a range of Studio Ghibli picture books and accesories.
We can buy or trade all manga collections.
Graphic Novels and Comics
We keep a wide range of graphic novels and Comics.
We can trade or buy all Graphic novels.
We will struggle to buy or trade most comic collections, unless they are ultra rare.
Military Books
We keep a wide range of military books, We try to keep a wide range of Pen and Sword, Napolenic, Osprey books and other similar speciality books.
We can’t buy most military books at present – Unless Osprey, (books with detailed info) Pen and Sword style or Napoleonic.
Train Books
We have a large selection of train books and pamphlets. We are looking to buy specialised train collections, ideally the books should be about a specific engine or train, or very modern.
We can’t buy or trade books on train journeys or compilation books about trains.
Aviation Books
We keep a decent range of civil and military aviation.
We can buy most aviation books.
Martial Arts
We stock a few martial arts books.
We are always looking to buy martial arts books, especially more specialised titles –

We stock a small range of travel guides. topographical books, maps – We don’t specialise in maps.
We are looking for Batsford books or Ward Locks.
We are not generally looking for travel stories or topographical books except Scarborough and district (Not Yorkshire in the title) We can’t take any more maps.
Car Books
We stock a few Haynes Guides ( Sorry we don’t want any more) , and old car manuals. We are looking for old car manuals, or very specialist car books. We do carry a selection of car related books.
Theatre and Plays
We stock a very small range. We are not looking for any more plays or theatre books.
Literary Criticism, Literature and author biographies / correspondence
We have removed this section due to lack of interest. ( We don’t need any more please. )
Folio Books
We have a large range of folios,. we are looking to buy box sets and more modern style (80s onwards) fiction. Non fiction we can buy box sets, myths, legends. philosophy, fairies We can’t buy older folios or older non fiction, military non fiction. We can’t buy Trollope. Get in touch using the sell your books form if you wish us to have a look at a collection. We don’t buy all folios. They are generally nice books it’s just the older ones can be a bit dated!!!
Fairies and Fairy tales
We buy and sell these,. We can buy Brian Froud books ( And we sell them) . Especially of interest are older books on either topics.
Historical Fiction
We don’t keep a seperate section as there is too wide and diverse a range. ( Are mining girls novels historical fiction and do they sit alongside Roman hack and slash novels ? ( We think not)
Authors such as Simon Scarrow and Bernard Cornwell (fighting based) we place with our Crime and Thrillers ( We can take both)
Authors such as Phillipa Gregory or Georgette Heyer ( intruige and courtesans) we place in our Romance and Sagas Section ( We can take Georgette Heyer )
Barnes and Nobles Books
We sell a selection of these and can aways buy or trade Barnes and Nobles books!!!!
Chiltern Classics.
We stock a comprehensive selection of these and can always trade or buy Chiltern Classics
Penguins
There is now a huge range of penguin titles. –
Modern Non fiction – We are looking to trade or buy these and sell a selection!!
Older non fiction (Pelican too) – We may struggle to takes these but we keep a range of them .
Older orange penguins – We can buy these , but not for a lot currently.
Older green penguins – We stock and always look to buy the classic crime penguins.

Antiquarian
We carry a decent and always changing range of Antiqurian books.
We can buy old bibles, and specilaised topics. Nicely illustrated books can fetch a premium or topics such as Natural History , Mycology , Birds, Nature and Beekeeping, martial arts. Non famous authors ( not Kipling, Dickens, Jerome K Jerome or Hardy) will be a struggle for us to buy or exchange. Even the books with lovely covers don’t sell very well ( If you want ot buy we have them super cheap!!!) Authors of note would be the Brontes, any of the Russian authors and we can always buy Alice in wonderland or looking glass ( We do try to sell older copies of these but usually they sell out!! )
Unfortunately old does not necessarily give a book value , although pre-Victorian would be more interesting for us!!!
